Associate Professor, Chemical Engineering, Michigan Tech. Received a Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering in 1991, and primary area of expertise is minerals processing and metals extraction. Has conducted research in diverse areas including coal desulfurization; processing of combustion byproducts; rock comminution; iron ore concentration and pelletization; copper leaching; reductive leaching of manganese and iron, salt refining, CO2 capture, electrolytic recovery of manganese and iron, and resource extraction from lunar regolith. Current research is in biorecovery of manganese oxide for use in battery manufacture, and battery recycling.
