Rev Nickel Project: A Model for Sustainable Mining

In partnership with Eagle Mine (Lundin Mining), Revex’s REV Nickel Project delivers new critical mineral production at three Michigan facilities.

Backed by $145M from the U.S. Department of Energy and $50M from Michigan’s Competitiveness Fund, this project uses proven technology, and process guarantees to ensure scalability and reliability.

Humbdolt Operations

Black mass production is the first step in the lithium-ion battery (LIB) recycling process and is based on mechanical treatment of the batteries. The feedstock for the reCover process is end-of-life LIBs and production scrap. Black mass contains high amounts of the critical minerals used to produce cathode active material and various industrial products produced from lithium, nickel, cobalt and manganese. The reCover facility will produce 16,000 mTPA black mass from 32,000 mTPA of end-of-life LIB and LIB manufacturing scrap ReCover With this investment in a commercial scale battery recycling black mass plant, Revex will establish a key enabler of full battery recycling value chain in the Upper Midwest.

The Dow Michigan Operations Industrial Park

The DOW Michigan Operations Industrial Park, I-Park, showcases the future of innovation and serves as a hub for excellence in partnership, technology, growth, and manufacturing.

The I-Park, situated on 2,600 acres in the Great Lakes Bay Region, creates a collaborative space with approximately 6,000 employees between Dow and others on-site focused on safety, recruitment and retention, and manufacturing efficiencies.

Midland Operations

The reCover facility will utilize proprietary commercial technology and equipment for producing black mass production from the end-of-life lithium ion battery (LIB) feedstock. After reviewing various mechanical treatment processes, we are implementing safe, scalable, and efficient technologies for recovering critical minerals from end-of-life LIBs, and LIB manufacturing scrap. The reCover facility design (FEL-1) was completed by Perlmutter & Idea Development (P&ID). Process and equipment performance guarantees will be provided.
